Primera Conferencia Internacional de la Asociación Catalana de Estudios de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (STS-CAT)

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the first international conference organised by the Catalan Association for Science and Technology Studies (STS-CAT), entitled “STS Encounters in the Mediterranean”, which will take place in Barcelona from 3 to 5 February 2027.

This conference aims to create a meeting space for researchers, collectives, practitioners and early-career scholars interested in exploring, from the perspective of Science and Technology Studies (STS), the tensions, utopias, and sociotechnical controversies that shape the Mediterranean as a space of encounter, conflict, and collaboration.

We invite you to reflect on how local and global forms of knowledge, research policies, health, technological innovation, and care traditions intersect within and beyond our region.

Confirmed keynote speakers:

  • Vololona Rabeharisoa (Centre de Sociologie de l’Innovation, Mines ParisTech)
  • Melike Şahinoğlu (Middle East Technical University, Ankara)

Venue: Institut d’Estudis Catalans. Carrer del Carme, 47, Ciutat Vella, 08001 Barcelona
